For one evening only, MOAB, a seven-piece experimental music ensemble from Montreal, will perform alongside David Rothenberg, professor of philosophy at NJIT, jazz clarinetist and lover of American seasonal cicadas.
Through free improvisation pieces, the ensemble will propose a profound exploration of the sonorities of cicadas, based on recordings captured in Illinois in the summer of 2024, when two broods (the XIIIth and the XIXth) met for the first time in 221 years, producing a variety of more than seven different sounds.
All in all, this is an instinctive experience akin to an encounter of the third kind, rooted in both the psyche and the body. Everyone is invited!
