Montreal, Tuesday, March 4, 2025 - The Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM) is thrilled to open its call for submissions for its 28th edition. Creators are invited to submit their works until June 15, 2025. RIDM’s next edition will take place from November 20 to 30, 2025.
RIDM offers audiences the very best in auteur documentary cinema, bringing together the works of established filmmakers and new talents. Every November, RIDM screens more than 100 domestic and foreign productions and hosts Forum RIDM, a bilingual documentary market that is unique to Quebec. The festival also organizes many complementary activities such as workshops, master classes, debates and roundtables, bringing together approximately one hundred international guests.
For this 28th edition, 12 prizes will be awarded. Nine prizes are awarded in cash and/or services by juries composed of local and international professionals:

The three additional prizes awarded are:

Student Jury Award, selected by a jury of students from various film programs in the Montreal area.

Women Inmate Jury Award, awarded by a jury composed of incarcerated women.

People's Choice Award, awarded based on votes from RIDM's audience.
Submitted films must meet the following criteria:

RIDM’s programming is focused on auteur documentaries. All formats and/or topics are welcome;

RIDM accepts submissions of the following: short, medium-length and feature films;

Works must have been produced after December 1st, 2023;
-
Works must be subtitled in either French or English (if the original language is neither French nor English);
-
Works previously rejected by RIDM may not be resubmitted;
-
Selected films must grant RIDM the Quebec premiere, meaning they cannot be broadcast, webcast or screened in Quebec before being shown at the RIDM.
