What do we mean by engaged cinema today, and how does this translate to the screen? Does the current under-funding of documentaries influence the way stories are told? Is the rise of digital platforms and social media forcing filmmakers to rethink their practices? Three directors whose films are part of RIDM 2024 program will share their innovative approaches to complex and controversial subjects. In this lively discussion, these committed filmmakers will share their thoughts on the evolution of a genre in perpetual transformation, both political and formal.
