In a small village in the Chilean backcountry, locals live in the shadow of a sprawling power station that provides electricity for the rest of the country but leaves them in darkness. This neglected community endures the negative effects of the power station whose rumbling metal structures have wrought lasting damage on nature and sucked the life out of the village. In an observational film-cum-cautionary tale, one child escapes the immobility of the trapped village. Meanwhile, the continuous buzz of the power station and the electricity pylons grows increasingly threatening. The film takes a radical form, masterfully culminating in an exercise of style that draws as much from genre film as it does from experimental film. (MB)
