Dreaming of returning to a home fled amid the atrocious violence of Colombia's rural Caribbean in the 80s and 90s, and imagining the wishes of those who disappeared — this is what Deimer Quintero Vertel’s debut feature cunningly proposes. Spectral presences speak: a child, an adult, an old man — one single body, and at once hundreds. They carry the seemingly unattainable wish of reuniting with the banana plantation and that dog named Winter, who so loved having his nose stroked. With immersive sound design and an imaginary archive of home movies and war footage, we journey through darkness towards that destroyed homeland in search of poetic justice. A Caribbean elegy that turns pain into music. (ORN)
