On the outskirts of Madrid, filmmaker Daniela Muñoz Barroso trains her camera and microphone on Spanish retiree Pepe at his DIY four-holes golf course. Tinged with humour, this encounter between two people experiencing hearing loss becomes a touching reflection on communication by way of golf and film. With the city just visible in the distance, or heard off-screen through unexpected sounds, this improvised place becomes a fascinating utopian space. Intermixed with more experimental moments, this short film is a sensitive and surprising portrait: an ode to encounters, to imagination, and to the small joys of doing things your own way. (HSB)
