LOUF follows Palestinian chef Fadi Kattan and his partners, Nicole and Faraj, as they prepare to open a restaurant dedicated to affirming and celebrating Palestinian history and culture. Every step centres Palestine, from menu development and space design to the training of future employees. This intimate portrait takes a direct approach while raising broader collective and political questions. As Israel’s genocidal campaign intensifies and famine ravages Gaza, the supply of Palestinian products, central to the project, is at stake. Food emerges as a marker of colonialism and a sign of the Palestinian occupation. Louf plays on this tension in a sensitive and lucid reflection on the political and activist dimensions of Palestinian cuisine. (MF)
