National Feature Competition

Petit Tom André-Line Beauparlant

Filmed over more than 15 years, Petit Tom chronicles the chaotic childhood and adolescence of Thomas, the son of the filmmaker’s cousin Nathalie, notably through footage shot with his own camera. As he enters adulthood, the film shows a daily life shaped by a lack of resources and violence. Petit Tom also examines love under difficult circumstances while exploring social reproduction and the difficulty of escaping it. Once again, André-Line Beauparlant turns her sensitive and attentive gaze to those close to her, bringing to a close the family saga that began in the must-see Trois Princesses pour Roland. (RS)
