Holy Electricity takes us to the streets of Tbilisi through the unlikely misadventures of Gonga and Bart, two zany cousins whose new business is going door-to-door selling rusty old crosses that they've transformed into luminous crucifixes. Carried along by a humorous mise-en-scène, where every shot is carefully composed, this film celebrates the eccentrics and misfits of the Georgian capital with refreshing lightness and tenderness. A true declaration of love by filmmaker Tato Kotetishvili for the beauty and authenticity of his fellow citizens, this cinematic oddity also manages to capture the complexity of human relationships and the universal need we all have to be accepted and loved.
