In the heart of Sicily, the small town of Niscemi is home to an American satellite base called Mobile User Objective or MUOS. The once peaceful region is now disfigured by huge antennas, endless fences, and an intrusive military presence. Despite their opposition to the project, citizens were unable to stop its development, and now they live with the consequences of electromagnetic waves on both the ecosystem and their health. Among them, Valentina—a hypersensitive young woman caring for her aging parents—suffers more and more from the loss of an idyllic life, stifled by MUOS. Beneath the oppressive buzz of antennas and insects, she dreams of fleeing the arid landscape to finally blossom in her independence. (SC)
