Ciudad
Following in the tradition of urban films like those by Vertov and Ruttman, yet choosing a collective production, Ciudad immerses us in Mexico City, exploring its recesses as surprising as they are familiar. Different perspectives reveal the historical weight of this megalopolis through a contemporary, mindful, and compassionate approach. Ciudad proves that there are as many cities as there are points of view, and that no single frame can pay homage to the many experiences and perspectives offered by our urbanity. Navigating between encounters, Ciudad shows us the working-class city, which is maintained, destroyed then rebuilt; the city that clogs up, piles up, and densifies, from high up in the sky and low to the ground. A city bogged down by its waste, or forming a community. These vignettes, like so many forays, link each aspect together to create the city. (NG)
