Short and Medium-Length Competition

Rezbotanik Pedro Gonçalves Ribeiro

In the early hours of the morning, Rezmorah leaves the club for their usual refuge: Lisbon's Botanical Garden, a peaceful place to detox after a night of debauchery. Their body still reeling from the night, they wander among the flora. With the previous day's make-up tattooed on their face, we listen to their reflections on the fluidity of nature, which resonates with their queer identity. Filmed on 8mm film, this delicate portrait of gender and nature intertwines the organic and malleable properties of plant life, identity, and filmic material—all of which are in a state of flux and perpetual transition. Carried by the melodies of Plantasia, an album composed to be listened to by plants, Rezbotanik offers a meditation on coexistence, the plurality of perspectives and experiences, and the ability to move and transform oneself.
