Through a self-reflexive structure in her new exploratory short, Mina Simendic draws connections between language, analogue film and systems of value, revealing how meaning is constructed through processes of selection, translation and exchange. Moving fluidly between personal reflection and political inquiry, This Desirable Device creates a rhythm in which image, sound and material texture reshape one another. Rather than simply organizing the film, the editing actively interrogates the very nature of communication, migration and artistic production, as well as what is gained, lost and transformed along the way.
