With magical realism, The Song of the Years to Come transports us to the heart of La Gomera as its inhabitants ponder their spiritual connection to the island. A man writes down his dreams, while children gather the stirrings of the forest sounds, all in search of answers. Beneath its ethnographic nature lies an alternative solution to the extractive practices that define the archaeological process, inviting instead a celebration of the senses and the imaginary as sources of knowledge. Lyrical and meditative in nature, this short film pays tribute to the sacred nature of the island's collective memory, infused in the fabric of its landscapes and history. (MF)
