A person returns to a private club overlooking the beach in Lima, Peru, at three different points in their life. In a cyclical manner, in a sort of loop made up of repetitions and variations, the same images reveal an identical place—despite the passing years—while a narrator articulates various contradictions regarding their relationship to this place reserved for the elite. On the same bank, three centuries earlier, in a kind of fever dream, a European naturalist is visited by a vulture (gallinazo) that he is studying. This scavenger bird links these two time frames and narratives in a powerful metaphor about the forces that are devouring the world. (HSB)
