Visite guidée
On Zuania, a former U.S. military base in the Caribbean, Beatriz makes a living giving tours of the island, which is now a popular tourist destination where the ubiquity of American tourists echoes its many waves of colonial occupation. Through a multifaceted approach combining a roaming camera with a strong narrative voice, Visite guidée unfolds as a decolonial fable with ecological undertones. This speculative essay explores the concepts of colonial permanence, tourism and dispossession through a dreamlike language shaped by wandering and reflection, thereby envisioning an unfinished sovereignty for both the island's human and animal inhabitants.
